The creators of Siri, Dag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer, are gearing up to release a new and improved virtual assistant, named “Viv.” Siri was acquired by Apple back in 2010, as it first started off as a standalone app.
Kittlaus and Cheyer’s new AI is expected to be even more resourceful and intuitive than Siri, Google, Cortana or Alexa, all of which are limited in terms of interactions and subsequent tasks. Those AIs simply choose from a selection of scripted responses. Viv, in turn, is reportedly more flexible and capable of imitating the feel of an actual human assistant.
While only time will tell if the Siri founders have in fact created an AI that shortens the gap between virtual and human assisting, reports from those who have tested the app are insisting Viv is a step in the right direction.
Stay tuned for more on the release of the new AI.
